Travel Industry – Group Travel Operations Manager – Up to £24k plus excellent benefits – North London

 

Our travel client, a leading ethical travel company, is looking for a Group Travel Operations Manager with a drive and passion for travel to join its friendly team that create and operate exciting treks, bike rides, mountain climbs and other adventure travel itineraries that push their customers to their limits.  As Group Travel Operations Manager you will be working for a travel company with a sound ethical ethos and that makes a positive impact to both the travel industry and their local host communities, where you will have focus on safety and risk management as well as improving and maintaining excellent standards of quality and customer experience, you will manage around 10 different itineraries with 40+ departures in up to 11 different countries

 

The Group Travel Operations Manager will:

  • Reviewing and updating all travel safety documentation, book new departure dates in cooperation with the sales/flights teams and research in the setting up of new itineraries
  • Monitor group numbers ensuring profitability
  • Liaise with travel ground handlers negotiating rates and ensure all travel operational details are correct, with any ad hoc changes or difference to exclusive itineraries have been organised and accounted for and any extra costs passed to the sales team.
  • Dealing with queries from clients regarding all elements of the tours and briefing travel tour leaders
  • Liaison with the flights team to ensure group flight schedules are all uploaded, leaders’ and medics’ flights are booked, extensions, add-ons and special requests are all in order and that all flights and fares are correct
  • Gathering as much feedback as possible (from clients, medics and challenge leaders) in order to continually improve safety and quality and responding to feedback
  • Liaising with clients: helping them prepare for their tour, sending out visa application info, vaccinations, kit list etc, joining instructions, updates to their itineraries and flight details etc.
  • Organising and conducting a debrief post-tour and detailed information fed back to the ground handler.
  • Prepare and ensure all customer facing documents are up to date and accurate on the website - Q&A / fact file / itinerary / kit list
  • Attending WTM and other trade exhibitions as appropriate/required

 

The successful Group Travel Operations Manager will have a passion for travel and an aptitude for organising the operational aspects of complex group travel.  This exciting role will suit someone who is a self-starter who can manage their own time efficiently, and who is not fazed by balancing a workload of wide-ranging tasks with thorough care and attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.  The successful Group Travel Operations Manager will preferably have some experience of working in group operations for a tour leader, or have ‘on the road’ travel tour leading experience so that they are able to demonstrate sound operations knowledge of busy group tours.  A passion for adventure travel is also advantageous.
