Assistant Manager (Lebanese Restaurant & Lounge)
City of London
Rota Shifts; Monday-Saturday 10am-10pm & Sunday 11am-8pm
20,000 - 25,000 (depending on experience)
Main purpose is to assist the General Manager to maximise profitability whilst maintaining excellent standards of food and drink quality together with excellent standards of service, cleanliness and safety through the day to day managing of the restaurant.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
*Assist the GM in recruiting team members who demonstrate and ensure consistent customer satisfaction.
*Ensure all staff have the eligibility to work in the UK, ensure reference checks are made and the UKBA recommendations are followed. Manages the induction of new staff according to company standards and ensures all legislative training is completed within the required time scale and recorded.
*Contributes to developing all team members to help them achieve their potential by monitoring staff performance, taking any corrective action, coaching and counselling where necessary
*Prepare weekly staffing schedules within budget controls, also prepare weekly section plans taking into consideration team strengths. Complete weekly payroll sheet showing all absences and all necessary paperwork
*The GM responds positively and quickly to customer concerns, and corrects potential problems before they have a negative effect on customers
*Verifies expenditure by checking cash reconciliation on a weekly basis and investigates and resolves any variances
*Demonstrates full understanding and control of the Profit and Loss accounts and identifies and resolves any problems that affect sales and profit
*Identifies and solves any problems that affect sales and profit in liaison with the Management Team through weekly meetings that have task and action lists to execute
*Monitors the quality of food and service to make sure they are in accordance with company standards.
*Ensures the restaurant is run to the company and legal standards with regards to Hygiene, Health and Safety, and Licensing, including regular spot audits of portion control and delivery to customers
*Ensures that marketing and communications material in the restaurant is of the required standard and displayed within the appropriate time frame i.e. menus, table stands, posters, product labels
*Attends weekly Management meetings ensuring weekly objectives are met by team.
Key qualities we are looking for include:
*Previous experience as Assistant Manager in a similar environment
*Strong focus on customer awareness and engagement
*Team development skills track record
*Financial/business acumen with track of increasing top line revenue
*Sound knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Safety procedures
*Sound marketing capabilities to drive sales through promotional offers
*Must be passionate about food and have all round understanding of the business, including kitchen and bar
