19,000 per annum + Benefits

Responsible to: Operations Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week as determined by the needs of the business, mainly evenings and weekends, 5 days out of 7

Our client's 123 bedroom hotel is set in a tranquil part of Leicester and their bar is the perfect place to relax after a day of meetings, conferences or activities. Both a great place to enjoy a large range of drinks and bar snacks, including a bespoke wine list containing some of the world`s most popular choices and where their mouth watering homemade bar menu is available. They also have the addition of their Garden Lounge which offers comfortable private seating with a beautiful view over the extensive gardens.

Purpose of the Job:

As Bar Manager you will direct, control and organise all bar related duties. You will also ensure customer requirements are satisfied to ensure an overall smooth running of the department. To maintain an open and accurate channel of communication with the entire management team; to implement, control & review all procedures relating to stock control, cash handling, purchasing and stock & waste disposal as relevant to the bar dept.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

-Ensure the smooth running of the Bar, including food service
-Assist F&B Manager of large events
-Satisfy all customer requirements by ensuring that the service is constantly maintained at a consistently high standard and procedures are followed.
-Carry out ordering of supplies and monthly stock takes
-Carry out accurate cash-up procedures at end of night, and responsible for cash in bar safe
-Liaise with Kitchen, Restaurant and other Departments regarding procedures, service, etc.
-Maintain and/or implement new efficient and effective work methods and systems.
-Ensure that all services delivered within the bar operation are being charged for correctly
-Practise economy and to minimise any incorrect usage of any resources with particularattention given to achieving G.P % and maximising revenue
-Ensure a pleasant working environment and a warm, friendly atmosphere at all times at the point of sale
-Be responsible for motivating and supporting the team
-Handle any customer complaints and provide swift solution
-Attend monthly operation meetings along with other heads of department.
-Act as designated premises supervisor and follow the Guest Management Plan
-Understand and implement health and safety procedures including reporting defects, accidents and near misses and attending fire training as requested
-Lead your team by example and ensure they are fully trained to deliver excellent customer service and take every opportunity to increase sales and minimise costs
-Protect guest and associate security by never revealing any personal information, room numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, unless authorised to do so
-Have knowledge of room types and other facilities, guest service within the hotel
-Prepare and set up the department`s standards and review on a regular basis to guarantee the best possible customer service
-Be proactive in terms of idea generation to help increase sales and minimise costs to the benefit of the customer and business
-Produce and maintain SOP`s in order to assist training of bar staff, and maintain excellent operational practise

The Person:

-Experience in a similar role is essential
-Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
-Committed to delivering high levels of customer service
-Excellent planning and organisational skills
-Must be excellent at stock control
-Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
-To be trusted and respected by both customer and peers
-Prepared to work anti- social hours
-Decision-making ability and a sense of responsibility
-Passionate about beverage & food and delivering excellent hospitality to guests


-Salary 19,000 per annum
