Capital Pleasure Boats has an opening for a motivated, pro-active individual to become the replacement Bar Manager on our fleet of busy Thames party boats. You will be required to have your Personal Licence, and will initially shadow the outgoing Bar Manager with all aspects of the day to day running of these unique venues. Start date: ASAP Job location: Normally Temple Pier, Central London. You will be based on board CPBS vessels but occasionally may be required to board the boat at other London locations. Hours: 2400 hours per year working out at an average of 46.2 hours per week. However due to the seasonal nature of our business some months will be busier than others. We guarantee that you will be given two days and nights off a week if required, however these are unlikely to be at weekends at peak times.Job description: As bar manager and personal licence holder you will be responsible for: Authorising the sale of alcoholOverseeing functions and serving behind the barTill maintenance including cashing up and float ordersCellar duties including moving stock from boat to boat and into and out of storage on various boatsStaff organisation and rotasConducting viewings for new clients, showing the boats and explaining how we work and what we can offerMaintenance of the vessels including painting and wood workGeneral mucking in! Qualifications: Do you fit the bill? You are organised and methodical as well as having excellent customer service skills.You are able to manage staff effectively and cope well under stressful and varied situations.You will be in sole charge of various bars so must be motivated and pro-active and be willing to learn and adaptYou will have experience of working behind a bar in a managerial role.You are a Personal Licence holderYou have good customer service skills and excellent oral and written English communication skills, unfortunately due to the high level of customer interaction candidates who can not communicate fluently in English will not be considered.You are literate, numerate and accurateYou are a highly motivated, conscientious, enthusiastic individualYou are detail-oriented, with strong organizational skillsYou are resourceful and able to take initiative in a challenging workplace environmentYou communicate effectively, anticipating needs and keeping directors, crew and office staff informed of problems or issuesYou are physically fit and strong enough to perform cellar duties and move stock between boats.General handyman skills would be an advantage.
