Business Development Manager – Business Travel, £25K + 10% commission uncapped (OTE £45-50K), Surrey

Our client is a well-established Business Travel company based in Surrey, the company are looking for a self motivated and talented Business Development Manager to join their team. This role is primarily focused on generating new sales for the business but also working where required to assist in organic growth. The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure and possess excellent interpersonal skills. A consultative approach toward prospects is required. There will be an office base although travel for meetings will be required.

Duties and responsibilities of a Business Development Manager:

  • Creating sales opportunities and pipelines and closing the sale to bring on new business
  • Database management
  • Attending networking events as deemed appropriate
  • Working with Account Management as required to develop existing clients to bring on new business
  • Leading on RFP responses, managing the process and ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Providing New Business Co-ordinator with all information to create proposal
  • Creating ad hoc proposal documents (assistance will be available from New Business Co-ordinators but majority of work to be done by BDM)
  • Creating presentations for RFP shortlist presentations and preparing team/briefing accordingly
  • Sharing full debrief information to any won/lost account

The skills required of the Business Development Manager are as follows:

  • Results driven
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, and to multi task
  • Ability to work proactively to generate leads and follow through to sale closing.
  • Ability to adapt to the client to ask the right questions, taking on a consultative approach
  • Ability to think outside of box and come up with innovative solutions and ideas
  • Confident in presenting to large audiences and to high level individuals
  • Excellent written and phone manner
  • Ability to interface with a wide cross section of people and quickly build professional relationships
  • Self starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Intermediate or above working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint; knowledge of online booking tools and other travel technology an advantage

The Business Development Manager role would ideally suit someone with at least 2 years sales experience, that is proative and motivated to expand and develop the business.
