Our client, an established niche Travel Organisation are currently seeking a Business Development Manager - Travel for new business sales. The successful candidate will identify, qualify and close profitable business with travel spend of between £500k and £5m. As an integral member of the sales team you will exceed the agreed targets, by presenting and selling travel solutions, and taking responsibility for major bids within the assigned accounts/territory.
This is a field based position with the expectation that you will be with potential clients 3 to 4 days per week, strongly supported by an internal team and a bid management team.

Key responsibilities of the Business Development Manager - Travel:

  • Meet or exceed the agreed sales target
  • Deliver agreed conversion rate
  • Deliver/present the sales proposition, by creating presentations
  • Generate own leads and phone warm leads to book meetings
  • Contribute to the Bids process and, on occasions, write bids
  • Keep in contact with and maintain a close relationship with key contacts
  • Represent the client in presentations and meetings with potential customers spending between £500k and £5m on business travel within the private; public and third sector


Skills required for the Business Development Manager - Travel:

  • A natural rapport with people and confidence to meet and present to prospects
  • Experience of selling in a B2B services or technology business
  • A desire and willingness to meet with prospects across the UK
  • Adaptable and results oriented
  • First class record keeping - everything must be recorded in Salesforce and up to date;
  • Ability to listen and articulate ideas effectively
  • Ability to write first drafts of compelling proposals and presentations
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers and external partners
  • Ability and willingness to proactively accept and drive change to accomplish positive outcomes
  • Ability to confidently present to senior decision makers in large corporates
  • A team player able to work with other sales team members (prospecting and bid writing) to deliver positive outcomes.
  • A passion for Business Travel

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Experience with managing sales processes which are heavily bid orientated
  • Experience of selling business travel management


The Business Development Manager - Travel would ideally suit an energetic Sales person with a minimum of 1 year’s of experience of winning Business within the corporate travel market.
