Business Travel Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a customer focused and commercially minded Business Travel Manager to evolve a self-service, in-house travel program. The role will focus on evolving a business travel agency from implementation in-house in conjunction with handling supplier relationships and maximising profits with a longer-term view to recruit external clients. This is a start-up business with big ambitions so the ideal candidate will have applicable experience running a Business Travel Agency and the ability to deal with changing circumstances in a dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement a self-service in-house travel program and evolve efficiencies through collation of MI
  • Implement and drive financial systems to include collating commissions and cross charging
  • Drive use of the system through the parent company, sister companies, and internal PR promoting benefits
  • Prepare the business for growth e.g. use of GDS (Galileo), ticketing, and RFP process to enable the on-boarding of new external companies
  • Identify market opportunities to deliver year on year revenue growth
  • Maximise the opportunity within the hospitality assessment service to represent and sell products across the wider section e.g. B&B’s & Sharing economy
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver marketing and sales strategies
  • As an effective member of the management team, support colleagues and their teams to drive the best quality performance whilst creating a mutually supportive culture

The ideal candidate: 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the below competencies:

  • Customer Focus
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to deal with changing circumstances in a dynamic market
  • Flexible in approach
  • Supportive and working with others
  • Delivering objectives
  • Acting Professionally
  • IT & digitally literate
  • Understanding the organisation’s goals and objectives

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Applicable experience running a Business Travel Agency function
  • Galileo / GDS competent
  • Knowledge of Gratis would be beneficial to the role
  • Ability to identify market opportunities
  • Proven track record of running customer and administration services
  • A degree qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • Experience of working with Travel Agency Associations
