Term-time role - 38 hours a week
Are you a Catering Instructor looking to make your mark in a new role? Could you teach catering and hospitality skills to young people with complex learning disabilities?
No Limits is part of the national charity MacIntyre. We provide bespoke integrated education and support programmes for children and young people with a learning disability, behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
In 2015 we opened a brilliant new further education centre in Camden, in partnership with Westminster Kingsway College and the London Borough of Camden. At Alexandra Centre, we support young people of college age who have a range of complex behaviours, including autism and/or profound and multiple learning disabilities.
About the role
We are recruiting for a Catering and Hospitality Tutor to teach our students. This is a new role, introduced as Alexandra Centre expands.
You will work with students in our large industrial kitchen and caf. You will play a key part in developing our students' focus on their health, employment possibilities, and the skills they will need to live independently.
You will collaborate with the Curriculum Manager to develop a flexible and individual learning programme for each student, which will include practical and theoretical knowledge of catering.
Managing and mentoring a small staff team, you will ensure the successful deployment of staff, physical and financial resources.
You will have qualifications and skills at Level 3 in catering, restaurant or caf production. A teaching qualification is ideal but not essential, as we can provide you with the necessary training and support to achieve this.
Experience of working with young adults with disabilities would be ideal, and at least you will need the imagination to understand the challenges our students face. You will be able to build relationships across boundaries: with students, your staff team, colleagues, advocates and families.
You will be organised, an effective communicator with the ability to break down catering skills into small steps and teach in a creative and flexible way.
