Term-time role - 38 hours a week

Are you a Catering Instructor looking to make your mark in a new role? Could you teach catering and hospitality skills to young people with complex learning disabilities?

No Limits is part of the national charity MacIntyre. We provide bespoke integrated education and support programmes for children and young people with a learning disability, behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

In 2015 we opened a brilliant new further education centre in Camden, in partnership with Westminster Kingsway College and the London Borough of Camden. At Alexandra Centre, we support young people of college age who have a range of complex behaviours, including autism and/or profound and multiple learning disabilities.

About the role

We are recruiting for a Catering and Hospitality Tutor to teach our students. This is a new role, introduced as Alexandra Centre expands.

You will work with students in our large industrial kitchen and caf. You will play a key part in developing our students' focus on their health, employment possibilities, and the skills they will need to live independently.

You will collaborate with the Curriculum Manager to develop a flexible and individual learning programme for each student, which will include practical and theoretical knowledge of catering.

Managing and mentoring a small staff team, you will ensure the successful deployment of staff, physical and financial resources.

About you

You will have qualifications and skills at Level 3 in catering, restaurant or caf production. A teaching qualification is ideal but not essential, as we can provide you with the necessary training and support to achieve this.

Experience of working with young adults with disabilities would be ideal, and at least you will need the imagination to understand the challenges our students face. You will be able to build relationships across boundaries: with students, your staff team, colleagues, advocates and families.

You will be organised, an effective communicator with the ability to break down catering skills into small steps and teach in a creative and flexible way.

For more information, download the recruitment pack attached to this advertisement on the MacIntyre website.

Pay and Rewards

MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training. We also offer a range of benefits which include:

Generous annual leave allowance of 33 days including statutory public holidays, rising with service to a maximum of 38 days
Free training
Workplace pension scheme
MacIntyre Rewards - great retail and leisure discounts
Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing
MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme
Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a probation period.

The closing date for this position is: Monday 17 October 2016

Interviews will take place on the 21st October 2016.

Safer Recruitment

MacIntyre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This post will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, together with all other relevant recruitment and right to work checks. Where relevant, candidates from outside the EU will need to produce a biometric residency permit. Additionally, any successful candidate who has spent six months of more outside the UK (as an adult) within the last five years will need to obtain an overseas police check.
