Objective and Responsibilities
To assist the Chef and Catering Manager in the smooth running of the kitchen and dining area, preparing and serving food keeping all areas clean and organised at all times
.Deliver and control the serving of food to detainees.
.Ensure knowledge in the operation of any kitchen equipment you are required to use, and apply accordingly utilising all safety measures.
.Ensure items for service are available for service times and are accounted for correctly.
.Replenish where necessary.
.Maintain the cleaning of work surfaces, storage areas, utensils and equipment.
.Maintain component hygiene standards, within your work areas.
.Interact with detainees in a positive and constructive manner ensuring that their needs are met, in line with Company policy and procedures, UKBA guidelines and legislative requirements.
.Assist with the supervision and searching of detainees who have access to the Kitchen area.
.Complete all relevant documentation in line with agreed standards
.Comply with Health & Safety Regulations, Fire policy and report hazards to management
This role requires an awareness of food safety and hygiene requirements along with the ability to interact constructively and sensitively with people who may at times be agitated, confused or angry. Strong communication skills and the desire to provide a high quality service to detainees whilst maintaining safety and security are necessary.
