Our client based in Cartmel are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable General Assistant to work in their beautiful, historic building which holds a pub and 10 rooms on site. The venue is situated in the historic village of Cartmel and is a listed building wonderfully furnished inside, serving high quality food and drink. They are looking to gain Rosette status within the next year and want to find the right person to help them achieve this.

Job responsibilities
*Working behind the bar
*Serving food
*Ensuring the upkeep of the pubs high quality environment
*Cashing up and opening and closing the building
*Cleaning wherever needed
*Assisting the pub owner in day to day tasks
*Keeping knowledgeable about the pubs products (food and drink) and ensuring the clienteles questions are all answered
*Keeping abreast of all changes that occur on any menus
*You will often be lone working, so the ability to prioritise tasks and make independent decisions is a must

The ideal candidate
*Will be confident, approachable and positive
*Have fantastic customer service skills and experience
*Must be truly interested in working in hospitality and have a desire to further their career in the industry
*Be a team player and able to easily get on with other team members
*Eager to learn about new food and drinks, and take on the responsibility to further their knowledge, both by themselves and with training that can be given by the business
*Will have experience working in the hospitality industry
*Care about the venue and be an instrumental part in its future progression
*Be willing to help out wherever needed and be happy to help other team members

With the right candidate, who is looking to pursue a career in hospitality, the pub owner would be wanting you to learn all you can and really get fully involved in the running of the business, to provide you with the perfect stepping stone to begin or further your career.

You would be provided with food and drinks on shift and tips are split monthly by the staff. They close on Christmas so you will always have that day off. Driving is essential for this role due to the location as there is no live in available.
