Can you whip up a full English breakfast or a gorgeous carrot cake? Could you support adults with learning disabilities? How about combining the two?
MacIntyre is a leading national charity supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.
We run a very popular cafe in Great Holm, producing delicious food to rave reviews from customers all over Milton Keynes. The cafe is run jointly by MacIntyre staff and people we support, who have learning disabilities.
We're looking for two part-time Learning Support Workers to join our cafe team. You will be working arond 26 hours a week (negotiable) during the day, including Saturdays on a rota.
About the role
Working as part of our small team, you'll be responsible both for cooking and serving food, and for supporting people with a range of learning disabilities to provide a great catering service to our customers, whether that's food preparation or serving at table.
We're open 09:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday, and 10:00 to 15:00 on a Saturday, providing a full range of hot and cold drinks, breakfast specials, sandwiches and homemade cakes (you want to try the chocolate brownies!). Depending on the rota, you'll be working outside these hours as well, preparing for customers in the mornings and cleaning up after the cafe has closed.
As well as serving customers in the shop, we provide a takeaway service and catering to some local businesses, so it can be quite hectic at times.
What we need from you
We're looking for someone who loves cooking and baking and ideally has some commercial catering and/or retail experience, including food hygiene. We bet you're a fan of the Great British Bake-Off! If you have computer skills, that would be a plus.
You'll also provide support to your colleagues with learning disabilities, encouraging those who are less confident, making sure each person has tasks suited to his or her particular skills, and helping them expand their horizons by providing the best possible service to our customers. Don't worry if you have no experience doing this, we'll provide full training.

What we need from you
Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.
You will need to be a driver with a manual licence, as you will sometimes deliver food locally in our small van.
Pay and Rewards
MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications. We also offer a range of benefits which include:
Generous annual leave allowance of 33 days including statutory public holidays, rising with service to a maximum of 38 days after five years.
Workplace pension scheme
MacIntyre Rewards - great retail and leisure discounts
Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing

The closing date for this position is: Wednesday 19 October 2016
Interviews will take place on: 1 and 2 November
