Overseas Operations Manager (German speaking) Brighton £20k + bonus

An exciting opportunity has arisen in this specialist niche-market travel company based in central Brighton, working as an Operations Manager in the Northern Europe Team, including their Ski programme.
You will have overall responsibility for the overseas Services Staff and Peak Season Representatives. You will be responsible for the operational delivery of the overseas programme within Northern Europe: Austria & Germany, ensuring that overseas staff are managed effectively within budgets and operating in accordance with Company standards. You will also manage relationships with overseas suppliers.

You will be required to:-

  • Interview and present at overseas recruitment days
  • Manage and motivate a team of peak season representatives both ‘on the ground’ and remotely to deliver outstanding customer service to our customers
  • Compile peak season representative information packs and impart information in a timely and efficient manner
  • Implement and run a training programme for new staff within the team overseas
  • Deliver in-house training to Office staff esp. Sales and PD on destinations within areas of expertise
  • Form strong, professional relationships with overseas suppliers in order to negotiate services at the best possible rate
  • Co-ordinate and process supplier invoices for matching / checking and payment by the Accounts Department
  • Manage the operational float, budget and cash flow over the changing demands of the season
  • Ensure safe and secure procedures are in place for cash handling overseas
  • Manage the logistics of all overseas tours to ensure that ‘on the ground’ support is provided where necessary
  • Be the main point of contact for both suppliers and peak season representatives while groups are travelling
  • Plan, co-ordinate and manage inspection visits and staff educational visits alongside Coordinator
  • Ensure that services procured adhere to company and industry regulations with regard to health and safety requirements and by conducting health and safety audits and/or risk assessments as required
  • Monitor and act on customer feedback directly from groups as well as via letters and reports from our customer service manager
  • Be the first on call to professionally manage our reaction and response to any emergency situation which may arise
  • Work closely with and provide training for the Product Delivery Specialists to improve and update product knowledge


You will need to have the following abilities:-

  • A flexible and capable individual with solid and significant travel industry knowledge – schools sector preferable
  • Proven and demonstrable influencing, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to use initiative and think logically and logistically
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, the ability to prioritise, organise and plan ahead whilst working in a high pressure environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and deliver excellent customer service even under pressure
  • Ability to quickly adapt and solve problems.
  • Experience of leading, developing and motivating others
  • One or more European language -  GERMAN essential
  • Passion for ski
  • Flexibility to travel overseas and work evenings, weekends and additional hours when operations dictate
  • Full driving license
