BMI Healthcare's Sloane Hospital in London has a vacancy for a Porter to join their team of staff within the Hotel Services Department on a Bank basis. Working on an "as and when required" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Applicants should have the following: Essential Good communication skillsExcellent telephone mannerAbility to work as part of a team or aloneGood Organisational skillsFlexibility and ability to work calmly under pressureA standard disclosure is necessary and will be carried out on appointment.Adaptable, cheerful and active.Able to deal with interruptions and manage under pressure.Maintain good relationships with all staff. Desirable Previous porter experience Private hospital experience Medical gases experience Duties of this role include: Assist in the delivery of patient careTo undertake general porter duties for the various hospital departments as requested, maintaining as high quality and proactive service to customers and staff.To undertake patient porter duties between the Ward, X-ray, Physiotherapy and the Theatre department.To provide night security as well as porter when on night shift.To cover for night security during holidays and sicknessTo open and lock up facility in line with the local physical security policy.To be an active member of the fire, security, green and cardiac teams.The removal and correctly store clinical waste.To clear sluices at regular intervals throughout the day and dispose of waste and laundry correctly.To transport specimens around the hospital as specified and at regular intervalsCheck, monitor and empty recycle bins when necessary.To collect bagged soiled linen and transfer to laundry trolley for collection.
