Overall Job Purpose

Accountable for helping in the delivery and achievement of company revenues, PAX and attachment ratio’s derived from a portfolio of Big Bus and ancillary products including 3rd party attraction tickets. 

To assist in the planning and delivery of the product and cross sales strategies and blueprints for Big Bus globally, in conjunction with local city teams as to grow attachment rates of attraction ticket sales and ancillary revenues from this and other income generating activities.

 Responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  •  In conjunction with local cities manage global product portfolio & channel sales initiatives
  • Product lifecycle control (cradle-to-grave) & prospecting new revenue streams from varying sources
  • Partner attraction relationship management (Direct & Indirectly through city teams), leveraging best practices to ensure that product sales are maximised
  • Guide/coach/work with, local city teams on the best practices of managing attraction relationships and how this can positively grow revenues from the sale of products
  • Ensuring net profitability by product and partner category is achieved
  • Assess and implement initiatives to increase city attraction attachment rates by customer
  • Assist in the planning, analysing and creation of ‘Big Bus Pass’ and its global launch city-by-city
  • Produce local, regional and global promotional marketing campaigns, including creation of new product packages

 The individual will work closely & collaboratively with the wider local & international sales and marketing teams in all cities as part of the Global Growth team, taking into account regional dynamics and competitive forces to deliver all elements of the ‘cross-sell’ budget plan.

The role covers circa 20 destinations sold by our local sales teams and also by travel businesses worldwide providing an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of new and existing local and international partners.

Key Responsibilities 

Planning

  • In partnership with local teams & sales channel heads and in line with the overall strategy, devise action plans for growth from existing partners in city as well as recruitment of new partners with timescales, sales projections and costs
  • Identify opportunities to sell a new attraction, an attraction inclusive bundle or to embark on a new revenue generating partnership
  • If appropriate and in conjunction with internal stakeholders, explore introduction of curated products incorporating attractions
  • Ensure alignment with the local team’s strategic agenda and budgets
  • Establish a deliver a global/local growth strategy for Merlin 

Prospecting/ Negotiating 

  • Actively attend relevant events, representing Big Bus
  • Provide the expertise to help local teams negotiate with key partners across the world, with direct involvement where appropriate
  • Set the principles to help the local teams to negotiate promotions (including tactical and evergreen promotions) or preferred agreements with partners to increase margins, ultimately leading to business growth
  • Where possible, work with sales team to establish Attractions as distribution partners for Big Bus Tours 

Product & Account Management

  • Establish a reporting process in conjunction with the partner to monitor and identify growth opportunities with clear process to address locally or globally
  • Drive a “pursuit of excellence” culture & motivate stakeholders in order to exceed goals and maximise attach rates
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with key partners, internal stakeholders and executive sponsors
  • Ensure timely and successful delivery of information to all stakeholders according to their needs and objectives
  • Assist with high severity requests or issue escalations as needed
  • Monitor product & channel performance to maximise Yield returns
  • Product lifecycle management incorporating ‘cradle-to-grave’ executions
  • Create a city-by-city channel sales matrix of product covering sales & net ticket margin performance
  • Work with varying departments (Brand/Web/IT) and local cities (including relevant regional EVPs) to produce local, regional & global promotional marketing campaigns
  • In conjunction with attraction partners and cities create product packages that generate incremental revenues, increase in city attraction attachment ratios whilst ensuring profitability 

Customer Satisfaction 

  • Ensure optimum customer satisfaction covering the full end-to-end journey including booking, redemption and consumption/usage
  • In conjunction with relevant stakeholders, develop bespoke products, product features or inclusion for customers in order to differentiate Big Bus offering from other providers in the market 

Brand Management

  • Be a brand ambassador for Big Bus Tours in the B2B environment
  • Be responsible for consistent delivery of the brand to external partners, and consistent understanding of the brand from all team members
  • Ensure that all product propositions fully reflect Big Bus brand value and mission statement 

Communications 

  • Through various mediums articulate strategy and action plans to all stakeholders
  • Use a proactive approach, together with a positive and enthusiastic communication style, to deliver goals
  • Keep the wider team in the communication loop on key matters, and be a key player in a culture of continuous improvement
  • Organise regular 2-way communications streams with city colleagues & attraction partners, in addition to participating in regular communications with central function teams 

Knowledge/Skills/Education/Experience/Competencies 

  • Excellent understanding of travel industry with an ability to assess demand thus ensuring that we plan activities in a timely manner
  • Product marketing principles and practices
  • Excellent commercial business acumen including Yield management principles
  • Proficiency in additional languages will be an advantage 
  • The ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Ability to “flex and pivot” quickly and effectively depending on the strategy and requirements of the business
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to express a message clearly and persuasively
  • Excellent communication and team working skills
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate ability to present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in sales or product function within the travel industry , with a proven track record in managing complex partner relationships
  • Experience in delivering partner-focused solutions based on customer needs and ability to solve complex problems effectively
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once while paying strict attention to detail
  • Budget management & reporting experience in the treatment of budgets and ensuring diligent use of finances to attain maximum impact
