The George LS1 3BB is currently recruiting for a full time cook (30 hours) to work in our small and not very busy pub kitchen. Producing simple but well done freshly prepared pub food we would like to build on our growing reputation and work towards doubling the output and get the pub known for producing great tasting value oriented pub food served in a speedy and professional manner. Reports to: Manager Objective: To help design the menu. Prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently. To ensure smooth running of the kitchen. Responsibilities: Manage the opening and closing of the kitchen Prepare, cook and present food to company specification Keep kitchen clean, tidy and hygienic at all times Work safely around kitchen equipment and monitor and deal with any maintenance issues Ensure stock counts are accurate and completed on time Maintain accurate food ordering and stocking levels, including kitchen materials to meet customer expectation Assist in delivering financial targets set for the House Manage wastage through correct portion control and records Keep up to date with new products, menus and promotions Adhere to company policies and procedures and licencing laws Be involved and contribute at all team meetings Carry out instructions as given by management. Who we are looking for? This position would ideally suit someone with a track record working in managed house kitchens, or similar independent restaurants. A strong work ethic and the ability to keep calm under pressure are a must for anyone considering applying. We are also seeking someone who has high standards of cleanliness and a good knowledge of food hygiene and environmental health practices. The ideal candidate will work well as part of a team but also work well on their own and have the motivation to keep busy during quite periods, as well as ensure the kitchen is well prepared for busy spells.
