A leading tour operator are looking for a Purchasing Executive to join its growing team and their designer London head office, playing a key role in a busy contracting and product department.  As Purchasing Executive you will be responsible for hotel relationships in London and the UK with the aim of making purchasing and contracting for Sales and Source Markets, to build successful relationships with key hotels and chains, and to assist in management of allocations, ensuring the department is contracting beds at the best possible rates to maximise margins, further helping to develop our clients product offering.

 

As Purchasing Executive you will:

  • Respond to purchasing requests internally to ensure that the groups are placed at the best hotel and rate available
  • Co-ordinate purchasing to ensure that suppliers utilised efficiently
  • Co-ordinate the use of the group allocations and promote these wherever possible, ensuring maximum usage of allocations
  • Contract and promote sightseeing, services and transfers within London and UK
  • Arrange visits to hotels ensuring that all staff are aware of the product
  • Understand the needs of the clients and the markets in which the department is operating
  • Maintain and improve good relations with all hotels
  • Develop product knowledge by participating in relevant FAM trips and undertaking visits when necessary
  • Negotiate better ad-hoc group rates with contracted and non contracted suppliers in key locations
  • Negotiate and book space to be sold for events where the department is pro-actively promoting a date for group travel

 

The successful Purchasing Executive will be looking for a career in the product or contracting disciplines within the travel industry.  You will have excellent communication and people skills, a strong attention to detail, highly accurate and be able to work to deadlines.  As Purchasing Executive you will have experience within the travel industry, though contracting or negotiation experience is not required, exposure to this would be advantageous.
