Purchasing Manager (Food Produce)

Location: Paris, France

Salary: Circa 68,000 Euros plus car allowance, bonus and benefits

Candidates should be able to speak fluent French and English. Any additional language skills (particularly Spanish) would be advantageous but not essential)

Our global client currently has an exciting new role to support in the delivery of the local Produce strategy in France. You will be required to deliver the strategic purchasing goals and deals across the range of produce in line with agreed global and local strategies.

You will primarily be accountable for the development of a French network of produce vendors and managing the program uptake by internal stakeholders. Whilst initially focusing on the French region, it is envisaged that this role will work across multiple countries over time, hence the preference for multi-lingual skills.

Principal responsibilities:

Selection and development of produce distributors and processors

Negotiate program's distribution and product services

Deliver everyday best pricing

Source local grown produce where applicable

Monitoring and resolving issues and driving continuous improvement with suppliers

Negotiate and execute produce deals in line with the agreed guidelines and category management principles

Manage and deliver value adding activity in the produce category

Take on the management of produce suppliers and contribute to the wider category management process

Qualifications, skills and knowledge:

Educated to degree level or equivalent

Experience working in a food or beverage purchasing role, preferably experience in buying produce

Relevant purchasing qualifications

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Experience of international and cross-cultural working

Strong analytical, commercial and negotiation skills

Fluent in English and French is essential

Ability to influence and drive behaviour changes from suppliers and other stakeholders

Strong customer focus and service skills
