Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre is a 71 bed centre providing specialist person-centred rehabilitation, care and support for adults with either a brain injury or other complex progressive neurological condition. We offer a specialist rehabilitation service for patients who require the opportunity to practice, progress and consolidate newly learnt skills in a variety of everyday settings before discharge home or to the community. We also care for patients who are no longer able to be cared for at home but who with some specialist help can take part in everyday activities and live as independently as possible. The centre is located in a residential area of Nottingham, just 2 miles from the M1 motorway and with good bus links. We employ staff in a variety of different roles and provide ongoing support with comprehensive training, learning and development opportunities.

In your role as a Rehabilitation Assistant you will help the patients achieve their full potential by carrying out programmes produced by the Therapists. This will include self care, social and recreational tasks as well as exercise programmes from speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. So as a Rehabilitation Assistant what do you need to do to make this happen?


  • To assist trained staff and to carry out assigned duties

  • To assist therapists with rehabilitation procedures

  • To participate in self-care and personal hygiene requirements of the clients

  • To assist patients with meal preparation and kitchen activities

  • To carry out activities with patients under the supervision of therapists

  • To act as escort when required

  • To attend all relevant in service and statutory training

  • To comply with all regulations laid down in respect of Health and Safety for residents, visitors and staff

  • Be involved in maintaining and developing a high standard of the care for the person by being aware of their individual needs and care programmes

  • Report to the designated therapist any information given by the person or their relative and any incident or observation which may affect their physical or mental well being

  • To help to provide an environment which is helpful to people with varied and complex needs realising their potential to live as independently as they can find possible

  • Practice within a legal framework encompassing statutory, organisational policy and guidelines
