Ticketing / Operations Executive, up to £25k, SW London

An operations / ticketing executive is required to join the operations /ticketing department of outstanding tour operator 



  • Be responsible for issuing all airline tickets and ticket reissues.
  • Processing automated ticket refunds (e.g. cancellations) through BSP or Amadeus.
  • Issuing automated EMDs (Electronic Miscellaneous Documents) to pay for deposits, seat reservations, excess baggage and similar.
  • Train Sales and Operations staff on GDS and answer GDS queries and advise Amadeus entries on a daily basis.
  • Advise fares (nett and published) to departments on a daily basis and schedule queries.
  • Advise staff on ETA and API queries and enter these into the GDS.
  • Liaising with airlines regarding errors with dates/names etc.
  • Ensuring group contracts with airlines are diarised for names/balance and ticket issue.
  • Request group seats/rates for ad-hoc tours and all allocations.
  • Check BSP Link on a weekly basis for correspondence.  Action/check any ADMs (Agency Debit Memo) /  ACMs (Agency Credit Memo), including querying any ADMs.  
  • Ensuring all IATA updates are adhered to.
  • Ensuring documentation is accurate and punctual.
  • Refunding EMDs on issue bookings (e.g. group deposits back once tickets have been issued).
  • Apply for agency discount tickets for staff, business trips, fam trip s and journalists.
  • Filing airline net rate contracts and ensuring ticketing information is correct and up to date.
  • Provide tax information for brochure production costings.
  • Ensure ticketing notes and airline rates are updated regularly, particularly with respect to fuel surcharge increases.
  • Action ADM (Amadeus) queues.
  • General administration, including running reports.
  • Booking airline seats on-line and in GDS.
  • Assisting Worldwide Team with sourcing flight routes and prices from contract rates, published airfares and third parties, ensuring competitive rates are achieved to maximise conversion.
  • Relationship building with airline Account Managers to maximise co-operation and ensure issues are resolved with minimal implications to the company.
  • Communicate yield management to ensure efficient selling and business commitment are met.
  • To develop and update product knowledge of airlines and services, including attendance at appropriate training sessions.
  • Log reservation bugs with developers and liaise regarding system upgrades and changes.
  • Be on call out of hours to assist with flight emergencies.
  • Load and maintain fares management contracts in reservations system (Travelbox), including loading and updating notes for passenger documents.


  • Participate in regular meetings and product training sessions relevant to your team and destinations
  • Ensure that you are aware and understand the company’s direction and strategy and that you contribute to the success of them
  • Assist other teams and departments as required.
  • Maintain an awareness and contribute where possible towards a cost effective and pro-active department and contribute to the overall profitability of Discover the World
  • Maintain the highest standards of customer service.

Individual Responsibilities:

  • Participate in regular staff appraisals and reviews identifying training and development needs
  • Develop your own skills through training within the company

Essential Preferable

  • GDS reservation skills (Amadeus)                       
  • Experience of working for a specialist tour operator in a similar role               
  • Experience of booking worldwide travel requirements using GDS                    
  • Experience of issuing, re-issuing and performing re-calculations of international and domestic airlines                         
  • Influencing and negotiating skills to source best and most cost effective routes.                      
  • Experience and full working knowledge of both net and published fares.                    
  • Good geographical and product knowledge of destinations, cities and airlines.                        
  • Working knowledge of IATA and currency regulations               
  • Working knowledge of TOD, PTA and EMDs                    
  • Strong customer service focus and skills.                         
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and pressurised deadlines.               
  • Teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.                  
  • Computer office skills, including basic practical skills using Microsoft Word and Excel               
  • Excellent spoken and written English                
  • Excellent eye for detail and accuracy.                
  • GDS Fares and Ticketing Qualification               
  • Fares qualifications BA1&2 and VA 1&2
