Travel Specialist 

This independent Tour Operator aims to inspire customers to book by demonstrating commercial awareness, great customer service and an understanding of WHY to bring customers closer to their destination.

As a Travel Specialist you will:

  • Plan and structure your day according to priority of new requests, reminders, booking management, planning phone calls and administration. Provide help to other team members where required.
  • Successfully explore and reflect clients’ travel needs during initial phone call and prove that you have understood and met the client’s needs by building a Travel Plan that reflects this.
  • Understand different customer types and build personalised rapport.
  • Demonstrate expert product and destination knowledge throughout the sales process.
  • Follow up (Reminders) on potential clients effectively closing sales within a reasonable timeframe using skills and coaching as per company guidelines and training.
  • Show high level of commercial awareness and encourage this in others: prioritise and recognise high value or commercially viable enquiries, explore potential to add value to bookings and actively take advantage of up-sell opportunities or multi-country enquiries.
  • Take responsibility for, and look for ways to maximise revenue and profit margin of your bookings.
  • Realistically manage clients’ expectations throughout the sales process.
  • Be aware of profitability of their destination and works with TL/SM on how to constantly find new ways to improve.
  • Take ownership of your destination ensuring that you remain a true destination specialist with up to date commercial knowledge and understanding of our product and flights.
  • Be proactive in aiding and maintaining effective working relationships between sales and the rest of the business and completes non-sales related product and marketing tasks for the continued improvement and development of the destination.

Performance measurement
You will be required to work towards specific and measurable goals as agreed in monthly 1:1’s and annual appraisals with your TL or SM. These goals can be set against both the functions and behaviours of your role and form the basis of evaluating your performance. The purpose of this is to follow up with coaching and training to develop your skills to enable you to reach your full potential, and to best ensure your continued personal development.
