Working for the largest name in travel, you will have a pivotal role working on an incredibly exciting eCommerce redesign project the Phoenix programme. Things are changing at TUI and we want you to join the team in celebrating our success with designing and delivering a new online customer experience.

Were looking for an HTMP & CCS Developer to join the IT division at TUI based from our Luton office. Working with amazing technology, you will be a key member of the User Interface team, involved with providing technical expertise and best practice development for TUI web applications, components and pages.

Prime aspects of the role include collaborating on HTML and CSS Style Guides, performing rapid prototyping and supporting a wider team of development professionals with creating/maintaining coding standards, supporting and promoting code reviews.

What You'll Be Doing

Key responsibilities include to:

  • Deliver significant improvements across our 3 major brand websites: Thomson, First Choice and Falcon Holidays
  • Assist in defining a completely new Web Front End
  • Produce responsive page layouts with dynamic content
  • Perform Rapid Prototyping activities
  • Perform CMS and Search Engine development
  • Contribute and define new Coding Standards including defining standards for SEO, accessibility, performance and SLAs
  • Support UI Team members and the wider Project Team members with changes to the development approach/methodology at TUI
  • Support our legacy systems until their replacement
  • Agree technical design with application team and architects
  • Review other team members code and submit your own for review
  • Drive quality and performance improvements by promoting new working practices
  • Review and sign off documentation and communicate any need for change
  • Support developments through design, build, test, implementation and look for ways to improve quality and reduce risk
  • Effectively communicate progress and issues with the Project Managers and Project team
  • Engage with the Project Team through entire project lifecycle
  • Work with your manager to help improve the quality delivered by all team members
  • Ensure that change requests are captured and communicated to the Project Manager and Project teams so that impact can be assessed
  • Communicate the need for change and highlight any opportunities to management concisely with a constructive benefits case

What We're Looking For

  • A passionate HTML & CSS developer
  • A Web Standards evangelist
  • CMS development and configuration experience. Hybris, Sitecore, Alfresco etc
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis taking business requirements through to low-level design
  • Knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • Strong team player
  • Full understanding of the project lifecycle
  • Ability to provide accurate estimations
  • Adaptable to changing priorities
  • Proven influencing skills
  • Able to work on own initiative and anticipate workloads
  • Awareness of targets and constraints and ability to work to these
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will also have the following skills;
  • Strong creative XHTML & HTML5
  • Experience with Bootstrap or Boilerplate
  • CSS expertise CSS2/3 and proven experience with dynamic CSS languages LESS and SASS
  • JavaScript general experience with Frameworks and APIs Dojo would be advantageous
  • Web, Mobile and Prototyping development principles and experience
  • Version Control/SVN
