At A Glance

A fantastic opportunity to work for a leading travel company in a high profile department responsible for the planning and product marketing of our holidays within the mainstream brands of First Choice & Thomson.

The role is well positioned to gain a full insight into the commercial planning of a Tour Operator and for the right individual this will position them well to further their career either within the product department itself or within any commercial function in the mainstream business.

The key purpose of the role is to support the planning and product activity and help implement the product 3 year strategy for all resorts in the TUI UK mainstream business.

The product executive role would play a fundamental role in analysing the cost base and then pricing our holidays to a set margin strategy. They would be instrumental in delivering our printed brochures ensuring these are accurate and support our strategy. Given the increasing focus on e-commerce, we would expect the role to increasingly play a role in supporting our web distribution.

Due to the changing nature of the business, it is expected that the role holder would respond positively to change and remain flexible and adaptable at all times. The geographic areas that the product executive is responsible would change with the peaks and troughs experienced between each haul during the pricing and production cycle.



What You'll Be Doing

All elements of the role you will undertake correlate to the Companys Strategic Goals under the four key areas of Product & Content, Distribution & Brands, Growth & Capital Allocation and People & Operational Effectiveness.

Product Strategic Planning

  • Help compile competitive data set (both prices, product range & other market statistics) for the product team and then work with APM/PM to analyse data and propose changes to current product line-up
  • Work with APM/PM to analyse GP1 data, current sales and margins.
  • Work with internal customers to implement change to improve profit across the programme
  • Work with APM/PM to analyse data relating to customer satisfaction (CSQs, competnsation, complaint ratios) to ensure that product review the customer in their commercial decision making.

Financial Planning (Cost Base & Pricing)

  • Work with PM/APM to analyse all aspects of the tour operator cost base to ensure lowest cost point possible and challenge with internal customers as necessary
  • Work with PM/APM to decide and action seasonality on specific gateways to meet varying demand and to produce a sensible pricing curve
  • Work with PM/APM to ensure all products for geographical areas are priced correctly to hit target margins and that maximising profit and revenue
  • Work with PM/APM to ensure room type level pricing is actioned to optimise occupancy and margin for supplemented room types
  • Work with PM/APM to monitor on-going trading stats and work with early and late trading to propose & suggest actions to improve profit performance

Product Marketing

  • Propose content and changes to photography within the brochure cycle deadlines that maximise sales and promote our differentiated product strategy whilst setting the right expectation for our customers
  • Checking of brochure pages and price panels as part of the production process
  • Using statistics on web share and other available information, review and challenge web content. Work with other internal customers to implement changes

Product Promotion

  • Work with APM/PM to produce launch briefing material and other ad-hoc tools to other internal customers to help promote our product in line with the 3 year strategy.
  • Work with APM/PM to analyse our customers and understand how they behave. Tie this to our commercial decision making to ensure proposals are viable.


Operational Effectiveness

  • Ensure all product systems are 100% accurate at all times (to include inventory set up briefs, access database)
  • Implement accurate sales plan on the pricing system
  • Challenge any barrier to sales through necessary checking and problem solving with internal customers
